ARC WELD STUDS: SHORT REDUCED BASE ARC FASTENERS

The Short Reduced Base Arc Stud is a threaded weld stud for application with arc stud welding equipment. This type of stud welded fastener is usually flux-loaded on the weld end for studwelding applications. Available in low carbon steel and stainless steel as standards, other special materials and grades are available. Similar to the Full Thread weld stud, the reduced base style is characterized by external threads for a majority of the weld stud length, and a smaller diameter non-threaded base sized to be less than the full diameter of the threads. For mating part and fit considerations, this type weld stud allows the weld fillet at the base of the welded stud to be maintained, in diameter, at or below the dimension of the thread diameter. Studwelding of the weld stud burns off a portion of the base so that the pre-weld, post-weld length dimensions should be considered. All orders for arc weld studs from Midwest Fasteners include ceramic studwelding ferrules properly sized for the weld stud ordered.
